NCP’s Akhtar Hossain receives death threat, files GD

Akhtar Hossain, a prominent leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), has lodged a General Diary (GD) with local authorities after receiving a serious death threat while campaigning on Saturday evening. The threat, issued via an anonymous phone call, has prompted security concerns and triggered a police investigation.

The GD was officially lodged late Saturday night. According to the document, the incident occurred around 5:30 PM as Hossain was actively conducting campaign activities. At the time of the threat, the NCP leader was located in Kishamat village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Chaula Union.

Hossain reported that he received an intimidating call on his mobile phone from an unknown number. During the call, the unidentified individual allegedly issued a direct threat to his life. The GD states that the nature of the threat was sufficiently serious to warrant immediate official action and heightened security measures.

Following the formal complaint, law enforcement officials confirmed the registration of the General Diary. Authorities have stated that an investigation is underway, with immediate efforts focused on tracing the origin of the mobile number used to issue the threat. Police are currently analyzing call details to identify the perpetrator and ascertain the motive behind the menacing communication.

The incident has drawn attention to the escalating tensions surrounding the political environment. Hossain expressed concern that such threats aim to disrupt the democratic process and intimidate candidates during campaigning. Security arrangements for the NCP leader are reportedly being reviewed in light of the severe nature of the incident reported in Chaula Union.
