Housewife hacked to death in Gazipur
A 35-year-old housewife was brutally hacked to death at her residence in Gazipur’s Sreepur Upazila early on Monday morning. The incident, which has shocked local residents, occurred in the Maona union area of the district.
The victim has been identified as Khadiza Begum, a mother of two. Her body was discovered by family members shortly after dawn when they failed to receive a response from her room. She had sustained deep and multiple injury marks, primarily to her head and neck, suggesting a brutal attack with sharp weapons.
Upon receiving notification, a team from the Sreepur Police Station immediately rushed to the scene to secure the area and collect forensic evidence. According to local reports, the crime may have occurred late Sunday night or in the very early hours of Monday morning while the victim’s husband was away on work.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Al-Amin Hossain of Sreepur Police Station confirmed the death and the nature of the injuries. “We found the victim lying in a pool of blood. It appears she was attacked viciously. We are currently investigating whether the motive was related to domestic disputes, robbery, or personal enmity,” SI Hossain stated, adding that the home showed no clear signs of forced entry, though this is yet to be confirmed by detailed inspection.
The body has been recovered by police and sent to the morgue at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Authorities confirmed that a case regarding the murder is being filed by the victim’s relatives at the Sreepur Police Station.
Police have initiated a thorough investigation into the incident, but as of Monday afternoon, no arrests have been made. Further legal action is currently underway as authorities work to identify the assailant or assailants responsible for the killing.
