Gazette of referendum results issued

The Election Commission (EC) has officially published the gazette notification detailing the full and final results of the recent national referendum concerning sweeping constitutional reform proposals. The issuance of the gazette formalizes the outcome of the ballot, providing the authoritative figures following the polling day and marking the final official stage of the electoral process.

According to the official document released by the EC, a decisive majority of votes were cast in favour of the proposed amendments. Specifically, the gazette confirms that a total of 48,200,660 votes were cast in favour of the constitutional reform proposals, representing the definitive number of ‘Yes’ votes tallied across all electoral districts.

The referendum addressed a series of key constitutional changes, which include alterations to the structure of the judicial appointments system and amendments aimed at decentralizing administrative powers. The publication of the results in the official gazette is a mandatory legal procedure, transforming the preliminary counts into a legally binding public declaration and paving the way for the immediate implementation of the approved changes.

While unofficial results had previously indicated a victory for the ‘Yes’ campaign, the gazette certification ensures the results comply with all electoral laws and statutory requirements necessary for validity. Following this formal certification, the government is now mandated to proceed with the legislative actions required to fully incorporate the reforms into the national legal framework.
