Jamaat calls on voters to exercise democratic rights as voting being held in festive atmosphere

Jamaat-e-Islami has issued a call urging all citizens to actively participate and exercise their fundamental democratic rights during the ongoing election process, noting that voting is being conducted in a “festive atmosphere” across various constituencies.

Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair, a key representative for the party, highlighted the positive trends observed across polling stations. He specifically drew attention to the “high turnout of voters” and the significant engagement from young citizens, characterizing the overall environment as conducive to democratic expression. Zubair emphasized that the party supports the constitutional right of citizens to cast their ballots freely and without intimidation.

While acknowledging the encouraging atmosphere, Zubair stressed the necessity for stringent measures to maintain the integrity of the voting process until the final results are declared. He urged election authorities and law enforcement agencies to ensure a genuinely free, fair, and peaceful election, arguing that this vigilance is paramount for establishing public trust in the outcome.

“The active participation of youth and general voters signals a strong commitment to democracy in the nation,” Zubair stated. He added that the authorities bear the crucial responsibility of guaranteeing that every voter can cast their vote without fear or hindrance, ensuring that the process reflects the true mandate of the people.

This responsibility, according to the party’s statement, extends beyond just polling hours, requiring continuous vigilance during vote counting and tabulation. Jamaat-e-Islami reiterated its commitment to upholding democratic norms and expressed hope that the election process would conclude in a transparent manner, solidifying the public’s confidence in the electoral system.

The party continues to monitor the situation closely, awaiting the successful and peaceful conclusion of the democratic exercise.
